When Should I send my RSVP’s?

Invitations should go out 3-4 months before the wedding.

This ensures guests have enough time to RSVP and the couple has enough time to finalize the headcount and order necessary items based on the final numbers.

There are good reasons for this:

  • There is more time to send a second wave of invites after receiving RSVPs.
  • There could be delays in the postal service, so we can accommodate this.
  • Receiving RSVPs earlier allows you to order day-of stationery without time constraints.
  • It offers your guests more time to book accommodations or flights.
  • It will also allow you more time to follow up with the stragglers or those who forgot to RSVP.
  • If you send your invitations 3 months in advance, people won't feel rushed to respond immediately. If you wait too long for RSVPs, guests are more likely to procrastinate and some may even simply forget.

All of the above allow for advanced planning and avoid last-minute stress.

If you send out earlier you increase the number of guests changing their attendance status months leading up to the big day. There is also a lack of ceremony details, and other wedding events. In addition, details may change so much that you could end up having to send a new batch of invitations!
